So I took the Jane Austen heroine quiz and found out that I am most like Elizabeth. This led me to another quiz about which Jane Austen gentleman is for me. Not that it really matters, they are fictional characters, right? Anyway, I found my dream gentleman.

Mr. Darcy. Pride and Prejudice’s FitzWilliam Darcy is aloof, but he feels deeply. If he loves you, he’s made up his mind for good, though you may not have noticed that that’s how he feels. He is, of course, rather too convinced of his own worth and tends towards snobbery, but he has a good heart and will marry you despite what his relations might think.

I wonder how much the fact that I have only seen 2 movies, Pride and Prejudice and Emma, had on my results. Hmm.

Doodles and I have been into Jane Austen lately. I admit that I have never read any of her books and Doodles has only read the Great Illustrated Classic version of Pride and Prejudice. I plan on reading at least one of them this summer – probably Pride and Prejudice since it is sitting on my mantel waiting to be read. What we have been doing is watching the movies and I must say that I love them all so far. We started with the P&P with Keira Knightly in it. Then we watched Emma followed by the movie about Jane Austen, Becoming Jane. Now we are watching P&P with Colin Firth so we can compare it to the other one. I’m not one to watch the same movie more than once, but watching the different version is like watching an entirely different movie for me. I’ve really enjoyed them.
But anyway, I came across this quiz and had to take it since we have been watching the movies.
You are Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.
I can’t say I disagree with it much, except for that prejudgement thing. <grin>
Since yesterday’s post was about Buster, today I have to write about Doodles. I don’t really have much to write, just humored by the fact that we got home from piano lessons 45 minutes ago and she is still sitting in the car reading. It’s kind of cold outside, but the sun is shining, keeping the car quite comfortable. I’ve gone out to check on her a couple of times and she smiles and waves at me. I so love the fact that she loves to read so much. She prefers thick books and series – so she always knows she has something to read next. The current series she is reading is Left Behind: The Kids. They are thin, but there are 40 books in the series, so she is content with that thought. She will read one book in a day or two depending on what else she has going on. Thank goodness for being able to put books on hold at the library on-line, or we would be having to run to the library every couple of days. I haven’t read the books. I used to try to skim over the books she would pick out to read, but I can’t keep up with her anymore. These are supposed to be Christian books about the end of the world. The librarian, who knows us pretty well from all of the books we check out there, recommended them. Does that make it okay for her?

This is Buster’s favorite book right now. I guess it should be as he got two copies of it for Christmas – one from my brother and one from me. He reads this book everyday for his free reading time and has been choosing it for our bedtime reading as well. So far his favorite thing from it has been making a water bomb. He’s also been interested in spies section with codes and ciphers. He has been dreaming about building a tree house as well as a go-cart. Unfortunately, we don’t have a tree big enough to build a tree house or I would be all for that. He’s also surprised me be some of the things he has shown some interest in like hunting and cooking a rabbit. He has always liked cute little animals, so I can’t believe he would actually want to hunt and cook a rabbit but I keep telling him I have an awesome recipe for barbecued rabbit. He has just found so many little tidbits in this book that he keeps picking it up to read. And when he tires of it, we have The American Boy’s Handy Book waiting on the shelf for him. We’ve had it for a couple of years, but I guess he just never discovered the cool things waiting for him between its covers.
